OpenAI has always made it clear that its goal has been to create artificial general intelligence (AGI) and it now has a five-level classification system for how it hopes to achieve it.

According to Bloomberg, when shared internally at a company all-hands, OpenAI said that it was only at Level 1 today defined as AI that has conversational language skills. Recent progress shows that it is nearing Level 2 or having the AI become “reasoners” with human-level problem solving.
